Leeds United have their share of spending money this summer. Now a Premier League team, though, clubs could really bump up asking prices.

Elland Road looks set to see a lot of coming and going this summer as Daniel Farke gears up his Leeds United side for the Premier League, after steering the club towards the Championship title in 2024/25.

And it’s already been reported that Leeds United have £150million to spend on new players this summer, which makes sense given some of the emerging transfer rumours in West Yorkshire.

There are some expensive names being mentioned and a lot of defenders too. Full-backs and centre-backs look like a priority for Farke this summer with recent reports revealing how Leeds United are trying to sign Jaka Bijol in a £17million deal from Udinese.

Now though, there’s a new name who’s supposedly appreciated behind the scenes at Elland Road: Celtic and USMNT defender Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Right now, Farke’s centre-back options are very thin on the ground. There’s only Joe Rodon, Ethan Ampadu and Pascal Struijk right now, with reports that Max Wober has been told he can leave Leeds United this summer. An emerging link to Carter-Vickers makes sense, then.

Speaking to 67HailHail, transfer insider Graeme Bailey has revealed how Leeds United are huge admirers of Carter-Vickers, along with Sunderland, but that either side would have to pay up to £30million to sign the 27-year-old former Spurs man on a permanent deal this summer.

Bailey explained: “What would he cost, £25-30million to sell him? That’s a lot of money for a centre-half at the moment. And I think there’s a real chance that he’s not at Celtic come the start of September. Leeds like him a lot, and Sunderland. I know that he was on West Ham’s radar as well. To be fair, he’s got three, four, even five (clubs interested).”

Jaka Bijol is half the price

Bijol has been heavily linked with Leeds United in the last week or so. It looks like the Slovenian international could even become Farke’s first signing of the summer, though it’s understood that Leeds United and Udinese are apart in negotiations for Bijol.

The 26-year-old has just enjoyed a superb season in Italy and would cost almost half the price that Carter-Vickers would, leaving Farke with some much-needed extra cash for other signings.

Cameron Carter-Vickers has never made it in England

Starting his career at Spurs, Carter-Vickers spent time on loan with seven different clubs before joining Celtic on a permanent deal in 2022.

Whilst he’s shone for the Scottish giants, Carter-Vickers has never really proved himself in England, having a mix of success playing in the Championship with the likes of Swansea City, Stoke City, Luton Town and more.

Bringing him in to keep Leeds United in the Premier League next season seems like a long-shot, especially considering the USMNT man has never played in the English top flight.
