Lopez is set to complete his move to Wolves for around £20m, with personal terms already agreed.
The Spaniard is a hugely talented young attacking midfielder who made his debut for Celta last October.
Lopez’s former mentor tried to bet on him making the Spain squad for the 2026 World Cup, praising his talent and intelligence.
And another former Lopez coach has made a very interesting comparison.
Ryan Owens, who coached Lopez at Bacton United when he was just 14, said (via Sky Sports): “He reminds me of Riyad Mahrez. The ball just sticks to his feet. From Bacton to La Liga to the Premier League.”
Mahrez is, of course, a player known for his exceptional technical quality, with dribbling and close-range ball control being two of his best attributes.
The Algerian, who has won five Premier League titles, has played on the right wing for Manchester City and Leicester City, and Lopez is expected to operate as a proper No. 10 for Wolves.

It will be fascinating to watch Lopez for Wolves.
In many ways, he is now someone with huge potential and a player with real technical ability.
He appears to be a silky and elegant player with good dribbling and ball-carrying quality, and the Sky feature also speaks to his love of nutmeg in opposition.
He will need time to settle in.
But this will be a positive signing for Wolves, who are in desperate need of someone like him following the departure of Pablo Sarabia.
