Nottingham Forest are set to bolster their squad this summer as they prepare for a potential European campaign. The Reds will face a two-legged playoff in August, and if successful, they will enter the UEFA Conference League group stage, competing in six matches for a chance to advance to the knockout rounds.
Botafogo striker Igor Jesus is expected to join Forest shortly, and he won’t be the only new arrival before the transfer window closes in September. However, manager Nuno Espírito Santo prefers a lean squad, meaning some current fringe players could be moved on to make room for fresh additions.
Ramon Sosa appears close to a £10 million move to Palmeiras, and another player who saw limited action last season may also depart.
Sporting CP Interested in Forest’s Jota Silva
Silva started just five Premier League games last season, often making more of an impact as a substitute. According to Portuguese outlet Record, Sporting CP are considering a move for the winger, with manager Rui Borges—who previously worked with Silva at Vitória—keen to reunite with him.
The 25-year-old contributed four goals in 38 appearances across all competitions but struggled to displace first-choice wingers Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga due to inconsistency.
While Forest’s asking price remains unclear, Sporting may soon have funds available if Viktor Gyökeres completes his anticipated move to the Premier League.
Time for Forest to Part Ways with Silva?
Despite his age, Silva has failed to deliver consistent performances to win over the Forest faithful. Having initially cost just £5.9 million, any profit on his sale would be a welcome boost to the club’s finances.
With European football on the horizon, Forest can aim higher in the transfer market, seeking stronger competition for Hudson-Odoi and Elanga. Silva may be better suited to a team like Sporting CP, where he would see more possession, making a summer exit the most logical outcome.
