Leicester City are preparing to sell centre-back Caleb Okoli this summer as part of a strategy to generate more than £30 million in transfer funds, Football League World has learned from exclusive sources.
The Foxes have recently appointed Marti Cifuentes as their new head coach, with the former QPR manager taking over from Ruud van Nistelrooy following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.
As Leicester gear up for another season in the Championship in 2025-26, Cifuentes faces the task of reshaping his squad—likely requiring player departures before new arrivals can be secured.
Leicester Looking to Offload Players for Funds
Following their drop to the second tier, Leicester are not in a strong financial position and will need to sell several players to raise capital.
Goalkeeper Mads Hermansen has already attracted interest, with Chelsea and West Ham reportedly eyeing a move. Football Insider suggests the Foxes could entertain offers around £20 million for the Dane.
However, FLW understands that the club’s broader plan is to secure at least £30 million from player sales this summer—with Okoli also expected to leave.
The 24-year-old defender, earning an estimated £25,000 per week (Capology), only joined Leicester last summer in a £13 million deal from Atalanta. But after the team’s relegation, he could be moved on quickly.
Okoli’s Limited Role Last Season
Okoli made just 19 Premier League appearances in 2024-25, starting regularly under Steve Cooper early in the campaign but falling out of favour under Van Nistelrooy—managing only three top-flight starts in 2025.
With Leicester targeting a significant cash injection from sales, Okoli and Hermansen appear set to depart as Cifuentes begins his squad overhaul.
