MusaCallum McGregor is wanted by Brendan Rodgers once again.
Rodgers wants to sign McGregor at Al Qadsiah after being appointed by the Saudi Pro League side.
He tried to do the exact same when he became the manager of Leicester City, but was unsuccessful in his approach.
Losing McGregor would be a travesty for Celtic, but Peter Grant thinks he is the only person that should be allowed to decide his fate.
Callum McGregor should decide his Celtic future
The 32-year-old is Mr Celtic, and one of the most decorated players in the club’s history.
A Hoops side without the skipper is one that is hard to comprehend, but Grant thinks that only he should be allowed to decide if he wants to stay or take on a new challenge.
He told the Go Radio Football Show: “He has done fantastic, and the bottom line is you get to a stage when you are a player that you make the decision. They will make the decision and say ‘I want to do this, I want to do that’.
“A time always comes whether you are playing or not playing, there are certain things that you are not happy with and you make that decision.
“I think that is the sort of kid he would be. He would want to win the title again with Celtic.”
Callum McGregor needs extra support
If McGregor is to stay with the club, it is vital that they get someone to help support him.
Wilfried Nancy’s current options are players that have more of an attacking mindset.
McGregor is good at the box-to-box role, but the side needs someone who can do the dirty work.
This means winning the ball back from deep and driving forward before allowing the more advanced midfielders to work their magic.
Not only would this restore more balance to the side, it would allow McGregor to do more of what he is good at.
