Wolves find shooting boots as Edwards delighted with FA Cup win
Wolves can describe their season so far as nothing other than shambolic – it took the club until game-week 20 to register their first win.
Although manager Rob Edwards has overseen a four-game unbeaten streak across all competitions, Edwards’ have scored just 15 goals in the top flight this season, one less than Brentford striker Igor Thiago.
Jorgen Strand Larsen, who found the net 15 times across the 2024/25 campaign, has been a shadow of himself this year, but found his shooting boots on Saturday, scoring a hat-trick in a 6-1 demolition of Shrewsbury.
“It was a good day all round and nice for the supporters to celebrate some goals. What could’ve been a tricky day turned out to be an enjoyable one,” Edwards said.
“I’d be stupid in the position I’m in at the moment to make wholesale changes when we’re just starting to build some momentum and see the team click a little bit.”
Strand Larsen’s future in particular is up in the air meanwhile, and the threat of relegation may convince the Old Gold to cash in on their number nine.
Not naive to their situation, it appears Wolves are considering signings with an eye on the coming campaign as they seek ways to improve their quality in front of goal.
Old Gold keen on Bowie
According to The Herald, as per Glasgow World, Wolves are one of the best-positioned teams in the race for Bowie. The 23-year-old, who spent four years at Fulham without making a league appearance for the club, returned to his native Scotland in 2024 when he signed for Hibernian.
Since then, the striker has battled through injury and established himself as a key part of their first-team. Across all competitions, Bowie, who made his debut for the national team in 2025, has recorded 11 goal contributions. His form has seen Hibs enjoy a strong campaign, sitting just four points behind Celtic in third.
Bowie is being monitored by both Celtic and Rangers, along with a number of sides in the English Championship and, of course, Wolves. Though their league position is dire, Wolves may well be able to offer Bowie a bigger wage than most of the other teams vying for his signature. The club, no doubt, will seek an immediate return to the top flight next season should they go down and Bowie could be a key figure for them.
As per Glasgow World, Bowie is on a contract that runs until 2028, meaning Hibernian can retain their negotiating power in any potential transfers. Described as an “exciting Scottish talent” by Hibs head coach David Gray, it remains to be seen whether Bowie would move on from Hibs and their current European push for a return to English football.
