MusaNottingham Forest are eyeing up a title-winning manager with Evangelos Marinakis prepared to make another managerial change, according to a new report.
Forest endured another catastrophic evening at Elland Road on Friday night, slumping to a comprehensive 3-1 defeat against relegation rivals Leeds United, with Sean Dyche hanging by a thread.
The Reds were thoroughly outplayed across the 90 minutes, with the contest essentially decided before halftime as Leeds raced into a commanding lead.
Few Forest players emerged with any credit from the debacle, with Dyche’s conservative approach once again failing to deliver the necessary results in a crucial six-pointer.
The defeat leaves Forest just three points clear of the Premier League drop zone, with West Ham beating Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday.
More worryingly for supporters at the City Ground, owner Marinakis is now seriously considering pulling the trigger on his third managerial change of an increasingly chaotic campaign.
According to reports, Dyche faces mounting pressure following Friday’s dismal display, with Marinakis having expected far greater improvement since appointing the former Everton boss back in October.
The Greek shipping magnate has grown frustrated with Forest’s continued proximity to danger despite recent victories over West Ham and Brentford, performances he considered unconvincing despite the results.
Evangelos Marinakis eyeing Marco Silva for Nottingham Forest
Now, as per GiveMeSport, Fulham boss Marco Silva remains in Marinakis’ sights.
Marinakis is said to be eyeing Silva as his preferred replacement should he decide Dyche’s time is up.
The Portuguese tactician worked under Marinakis at Olympiacos, where they won a Greek Super League title together, and remains a long-term admirer.
Marinakis apparently considers Silva capable of implementing a more progressive style whilst securing Premier League survival, and the Greek tycoon is prepared to make yet another change in the dugout.
Silva’s future at Craven Cottage remains uncertain, with his contract expiring at the end of the current campaign.
The 47-year-old has transformed Fulham since arriving in 2021, overseeing their promotion and establishing them as comfortable mid-table performers and sometimes European contenders, but negotiations over fresh terms have stalled.
For Marinakis, Silva represents an available manager who ticks multiple boxes.
His previous success under the Greek’s ownership at Olympiacos, combined with proven Premier League credentials and his contract situation makes him very attainable.
Silva has also been called a ‘master’ tactician by those who’ve worked under him.
“He printed out what he was going to do in training, and it was a similar formula to the one we had in Estoril. He is a master,” ex-Hull striker Evandro told Premier League Brasil.
“I like to put Marco Silva on the same level as Sampaoli, because he has a management model that I also look up to. Marco Silva has an excellent way of managing the group and his greatest characteristic is being rational and not emotional.”
Wednesday’s crucial clash against Wolves at the City Ground now looms large for Dyche, with some sources suggesting defeat could spell the end for the 53-year-old.
Forest desperately need three points to provide breathing space and restore confidence after their alarming recent slide down the table.
