MusaLeeds United were a much different club three seasons ago; they had been relegated from the Premier League and were set to begin life in the Championship.
Things had been building up for years leading to relegation, both on and off the pitch. The Whites had splashed a lot of cash on failed transfers, and none of the coaches they hired after Marcelo Bielsa seemed to bring any stability.
The Whites geared up for another promotion campaign, with the board giving the Leeds boss key signings like Ao Tanaka and Manor Solomon. The club won promotion, hitting 100 points and scoring 95 goals
Daniel Farke makes honest Leeds United admission
Daniel Farke has been a success so far at Elland Road, achieving promotion within his first two seasons and winning the Championship. If everything goes according to plan this campaign, he could secure another season in the Premier League for Leeds United. The fanbase have had their ups and downs with the German, but overall he has been one of the key pillars at the club since the takeover.
In Friday’s press conference before the FA Cup game this weekend, Farke spoke a bit on how he ended up at Elland Road. He mentioned that something ‘special’ attracted him to the club:
“When I pick a club I am always out for doing something special. I knew there was not much consistency here apart from Marcelo, I was hoping for something special and I had really good feeling with the owners. It was never the plan for me to work again on Championship level, it was clear for me the next job would be Bundesliga or Premier League level, but I knew how special Leeds United was and the potential, out of respect I picked up my mobile, right now I am here and the rest is history.”
Survival is within touching distance
The 49ers made the right decision to stick with Daniel Farke when things were not going well towards the end of the year. And since then he has completely turned things around; Leeds are now in 15th place and are in good shape.
The other clubs down the bottom of the table are scrambling; Nottingham Forest have sacked Sean Dyche and Burnley and West Ham are still struggling for points. If the Whites can continue their run of form, then they could secure safety before the season ends.
