MusaLeeds United’s pursuit of new signings has shown no signs of slowing down in recent days, with Jaka Bijol expected to arrive in Yorkshire on Wednesday to undergo a medical.
Udinese and Slovenia defender Bijol will become Leeds’ second summer signing after Leeds agreed a deal with the Serie A club for £18.75m. Reports in Italy suggest Bijol could be confirmed by the end of the day.
It comes after Leeds completed their first signing of the season at the weekend, signing Lukas Nmecha. The Germany international has agreed a two-year deal that starts on July 1.

Leeds United see £32m bid for Rodrigo Muniz rejected
Last month, reports emerged that Leeds were interested in Fulham’s Brazilian strongman Rodrigo Muniz. The Cottagers value Muniz at £50m, which would easily eclipse Leeds’ club record transfer fee.
Leeds are not willing to go that high, however. The Whites are actually prepared to pay as much as £35m for Muniz this summer. Now, The Athletic’s Cross claims that Leeds have already made a bid to sign Muniz.
The Cross reports that Leeds initially offered Fulham £26m for Muniz, who has scored 17 Premier League goals in 57 top-flight appearances over the past two seasons. The deal includes a further £6m in add-ons.
Fulham have decided to reject an offer that arrived at Fulham’s door earlier in the summer. It is currently unclear whether Leeds and Adam Underwood will return with a second bid for the Fulham ace.
What Alan Shearer said about Rodrigo Muniz in February 2024
After signing Nmecha, reports suggested Leeds were keen on a big-name striker, and Muniz could be the man Alan Shearer believes can intimidate defenders and disrupt opposition in the Premier League.
Shearer was quoted as saying by the BBC about Muniz: “He was a real handful. He was difficult to play against, he was actually terrible. It’s always good to be a centre-forward, you have to be.”
Leeds’ problem is that Joel Piroe is still first-choice after scoring 19 goals last season. But the Dutchman has never played in the Premier League. Nmecha has only played a few minutes at the top.
Patrick Bamford has plenty of games in the top flight but he can’t be relied upon to stay fit and is certainly not the player he once was. Mateo Joseph is desperate to complete a move to Real Betis.
