Then there’s Porziņģis’ side to consider. Though not a superstar, if he isn’t interested in being a rotational piece on Luka’s team, trading for him wouldn’t make much sense.

Additionally, Porziņģis has struggled with frequent injuries throughout his career. Most notably, he suffered a torn medial retinaculum during the 2024 NBA Finals and later dealt with an illness this year, reducing his playoff availability. Over the past seven seasons, he’s only surpassed 60 games once.

Unless reports emerge suggesting both players are open to reuniting in Los Angeles or the Lakers make a serious offer for Porziņģis, don’t count on seeing him in purple and gold next season.
