“He wants to play” – Brighton man wants transfer as club prepare offer

Brighton and Hove Albion defender Igor Julio is reportedly eager to join Real Sociedad, with the Spanish club readying an offer for him.

The update comes from Diario Vasco journalists Maite Jiménez, Beñat Barreto, and Raúl Melero, who have been tracking the situation. Recent reports suggest Real Sociedad are nearing a deal for the 27-year-old Brazilian, having already reached a personal agreement with him.

Today’s developments indicate that Sociedad are preparing an official bid, with Brighton reportedly expecting to finalize his sale this week. The Seagulls are open to letting Julio leave, as he is no longer a key part of their plans. After falling down the pecking order this season, Brighton has already bolstered their defense with the signing of Diego Coppola.

A move to Sociedad would offer Julio more consistent playing time, which Barreto believes is the driving force behind the transfer. “If he joins Real Sociedad, it’s to be a starter. He wants minutes. He excels in ball control, both in passing and dribbling, and can also fill in at left-back,” he said.

Melero, meanwhile, views the negotiations with a Premier League club as a positive sign and is confident Julio would be a shrewd acquisition. “He’s physically strong, imposing, and very tall—not just a traditional aerial defender. It’s encouraging that Real Sociedad is pursuing a player from the Premier League,” he added.

All three journalists agree that Julio is keen on the move, suggesting the transfer could be wrapped up swiftly. “It seems Igor Julio wants to play for Real Sociedad,” they concluded in their analysis.
