Speaking on the Red Side of the Trent podcast, Cook recalled: “When he signed, I had to apologise because I’d absolutely nailed him in the play-offs. Late in extra time, he turned, and I thought, ‘I’m taking you out here!’
“I’d been chatting to him during the game, trying to get in his head—but in a friendly way. I told him, ‘Sheffield United won’t sign you if they go up—you’ll be with us next season anyway.’ But then he scored, so my mind games didn’t exactly work!”
Cook praised Gibbs-White’s growth since joining Forest, saying: “He’s a top player and a great lad. He’s matured so much, and we knew he was the perfect signing. His connection with the manager was strong, and he’s been brilliant for the club. If Forest can keep him, he’ll have an incredible future here.”
