Liverpool forward Diogo Jota tragically passed away on Thursday after a fatal car accident in Zamora, Spain. Just days earlier, he had shared joyful photos on his X account from his wedding to long-term partner Rute Cardoso, which took place on June 22, 2025, in Porto.
DAILY POST previously reported that Jota and his brother, Andre, died when their Lamborghini veered off the road due to a tyre blowout while overtaking another vehicle. The car subsequently caught fire. Spanish authorities are currently investigating the incident.
Liverpool FC paid tribute to the 28-year-old, calling his death “devastating.” Jota, who joined the Reds from Wolves in 2020, made 182 appearances for the club. During his five years at Anfield, he won the Premier League (2024/25), the FA Cup, and two Carabao Cups.
On June 28, Jota had posted wedding photos with the caption: “June 22, 2025. Yes, forever.”
