MusaBrighton and Hove Albion will have to offer Flamengo at least another €10m if they are to tempt them to sell defender Wesley this summer.
That is according to journalist Jorge Nicola, who reports that the Brazilian club want at least €30m for the 21-year-old.
A report in England yesterday suggested that Brighton are continuing their attempts to sign Wesley, who is highly rated in Brazil. It claimed that they had already offered €20m for his signature in the summer.
It was unclear in the UK how Flamengo would deal with Brighton’s interest, with reports suggesting that €20m was the amount they were prepared to spend.
The news was quickly received in Brazil, with Flamengo’s director of football Jose Boto later giving an interview to Gazzetta dello Sport discussing the player.
He made it clear that €20m would not be enough to seal the deal, before quoting an asking price of €30m. Nicola now says that this is the figure the Brazilian club is looking for, and explains that they expect more offers to arrive in the coming days, possibly from Brighton.
“Judging by the fact that Flamengo are looking for at least €30m, it is clear that this offer will be rejected,” he said.
“This should be the first of many that Flamengo will receive in the coming days for the right-back, who has attracted attention and was recently called up to the Brazilian national team by Carlo Ancelotti.
“José Boto, Flamengo’s football executive, gave an interview to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in the last few hours, in which he said, quote, that Wesley is ready for Europe, we will see after the World Cup, but we are not obliged to sell him, quote. In that interview, Boto made it very clear that he will not sell the player for less than €30m.”
