Their first summer acquisition, Enzo Le Fee, arrived after his loan spell from Roma last season. The deal included a promotion clause, making the move permanent for around £19 million following Sunderland’s dramatic play-off final victory. The French playmaker is expected to make a significant impact in the top flight.
The Black Cats then shattered their transfer record with the €30 million signing of Habib Diarra, before adding Noah Sadiki from Belgian champions Union Saint-Gilloise as their third new arrival.
