The Met Office have released several weather warnings across the UK as a widespread downpour is expected – with a wet weekend ahead according to the experts.
The forecasters have issued yellow weather warnings over lots of the nation with heavy and prolonged rain likely to cause destruction.
The bad weather is set to impact several areas from Thursday, November 13 to Saturday, November 15. On Thursday, persistent and at times heavy rain is likely to cause issues across Scotland and the north of England.
Nottingham has already seen flooding in the city centre, with a busy junction being turned into a ‘swimming pool’ after a huge amount of rainfall caused it to close.
A spokesperson for the Met Office said: “An area of rain, heavy in places, will move northwards across northern England overnight before slowly decaying over southern Scotland Thursday morning.
“This is likely to bring fairly widespread totals of 15-25 mm, particularly over the far north of England and southern Scotland where a few places may receive 40-50 mm, before easing from the south.”

On Friday more warnings have been issued as prolonged rain during the day and into early Saturday may lead to some flooding. The could cause power cuts across the country and damage to some buildings.
Some areas are expected to have 60-80 mm of rainfall, with this potentially in excess of 100 mm over east-facing hills in southeast Wales.
The regions that will face the worst consequences of the horrific weather are southeast Wales, the Midlands and parts of southern England.

Following on from Friday’s widespread rainstorm, strong easterly winds are expected on Saturday morning. The Met Office recommend that if you live in an area impacted to prepare a flood plan and an emergency flood kit.
If travelling you should also check routes ahead of time as delays are likely on roads and public transport routes.
