Striker linked with Nottingham Forest has been endorsed by Nicolas Dominguez

Nottingham Forest are going in search of a new striker and it’s perhaps not a secret who Nicolas Dominguez would welcome at the club.

Forest allowed Arnaud Kalimuendo to join Eintracht Frankfurt last week, with the player falling badly out of favour at the City Ground since Sean Dyche came to the club.

The decision feels like a curious one, with Kalimuendo clearly boasting talent, and his departure leaves Igor Jesus and Taiwo Awoniyi as the only two strikers available to Dyche.

Lots of strikers have been linked with Forest this month already and now, one of the players mentioned over a move to Forest has been endorsed by Dominguez.

Nicolas Dominguez raves about Santiago Castro

One of the players linked with a move to the City Ground has been Bologna striker Castro and Dominguez is clearly a fan of the Argentine player.

Castro, 21, has scored six goals in 25 appearances for the Serie A outfit during the 2025/26 campaign, attracting interest from a host of clubs across Europe.

Dominguez has been interviewed by Gianluca Di Marzio recently, and he’s been quizzed on the youngster, given that the midfielder himself used to be a star at Bologna.

When asked if Castro could become a star like Hernan Crespo or Gonzalo Higuain, he said: “Yes, he can! I haven’t played with him. He arrived when I left, but I’ve heard great things about him. Plus, he’s young, so he can do it.”

Castro would be a very useful Forest signing

Castro would be slightly cheaper than Jorgen Strand Larsen and although he’s not proven in the Premier League like the Wolves man, he probably does have a bit more potential.

Forest do need to get their act together when it comes to the transfer market and the need for a new striker is getting pretty desperate right now.

The Reds did score three against Wrexham on Friday night but that was against Championship opposition and Premier League goals have been hard to come by.

Based on what Dominguez has said, it seems as though Castro would be a very useful signing indeed and hopefully something can happen in the coming weeks over a new addition.
