It was reported by Graham Smyth that the deal had been in the works for over a month. Leeds had contacted the player in December, and both parties were open to a deal.
What Leeds fans will be impressed about is how the midfielder himself pushed for the deal. He believes he can become a key part of this team under Daniel Farke.
Facundo Buonanotte will be eyeing Leeds United starting spot after Fulham game
The Argentine did not get his first start of the season on Saturday; Farke went with a very familiar attack with Noah Okafor alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin. However, the Swiss international continues to be the weak point of the team. Since his bright performances to begin the campaign, he has been very inconsistent.

A lot of it is down to him playing a new role in a new system, but his overall game has left fans scratching their heads. Against Fulham, he was almost like a passenger in the team – not doing much in creating or taking shots, nor progressing the ball into dangerous areas. He was taken off for Wilfried Gnonto after just 70 minutes. Although Buonanotte did not step foot on the pitch, he should already have his eye on Okafor’s position.
The midfielder can play as a number 10 and off the flanks, and is very comfortable with the ball in central areas – in his limited time on loan at Chelsea, he managed a goal and two assists.
Daniel Farke needs to make that change
Moving forward, Buonanotte should be the one in Noah Okafor’s role. It looks like the latter is suited to coming off the bench to impact games with his pace rather than influencing the game in his current role.
This is not a slight on the winger, but at this point of the season, everyone can see he is not cut out for that role. Leeds should be playing their new signing moving forward.
