BREAKING: Las Vegas Raiders Bring Back a Familiar Face; Jack Del Rio Returns as Head Coach – ESPN Reports

In a stunning move following a disappointing 2024-2025 NFL season, the Las Vegas Raiders have decided to bring back a familiar face, with former head coach Jack Del Rio returning to the Silver and Black, according to ESPN.

The Raiders, who finished a dismal 4-13 and failed to win a single game in the AFC West, are making a major shake-up after a season plagued by injuries and underperformance on both sides of the ball. Head coach Antonio Pierce, who was promoted to the full-time position after taking over as interim in 2023, was let go after just one season at the helm. Despite showing promise during a late-season surge in 2023, Pierce could not guide the Raiders to a turnaround in 2024.

The decision comes from Raiders owner Mark Davis, who expressed the need for a fresh direction for the team. As part of the organizational shake-up, Davis will collaborate with minority owner Tom Brady to search for the next leader of the franchise. Brady, who has become increasingly involved in team operations, is expected to play a key role in both the head coaching search and the team’s future quarterback decisions.

Tom Brady’s Influence Grows in Las Vegas

In a tweet by ESPN Senior NFL Insider Adam Schefter, sources confirmed that Tom Brady will be an integral part of the committee formed to evaluate coaching candidates. “Brady’s impact on the organization will be felt from here on out as he establishes himself as a voice amongst the decision-makers in Vegas,” said Sports Illustrated’s Caleb Skinner.

Brady’s involvement with the Raiders marks the next phase of the team’s organizational overhaul. As the Raiders hold the sixth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Brady will also have significant input in selecting the franchise’s next quarterback, a decision that could define the team’s future.

The Return of Jack Del Rio

Del Rio, who previously served as the Raiders head coach from 2015 to 2017, is well-acquainted with the challenges facing the organization. While his tenure was marked by some moderate success, including an 12-4 season in 2016, Del Rio was ultimately dismissed after a postseason absence in 2017. His return signals a bold move from the franchise, hoping that Del Rio’s experience and leadership can right the ship in a difficult time.

Despite his past with the team, the Raiders are hoping that Del Rio can navigate the ongoing transition and stabilize the franchise, especially in terms of defense, an area that has plagued the Raiders throughout the 2024 season.

What’s Next for the Raiders?

The Raiders’ offseason will be filled with decisions that could reshape their future. From hiring a new head coach to addressing the quarterback situation, 2025 promises to be a pivotal year for the franchise. With the team sitting at the sixth overall pick, the new head coach—along with Brady’s guidance—will need to quickly assess the needs of the roster and make strategic moves that can reestablish the Raiders as contenders.

Stay tuned as the Raiders look to rebuild their foundation and put together the pieces necessary to return to relevance in the NFL.
