MusaNottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is interested in adding the iconic Brazilian Vasco da Gama to his clubhouse.
Greek businessman Marinakis is keen to increase his portfolio of teams, which already includes Forest, Olympiakos and Rio Ave, with Vasco among the clubs currently within his reach.
Initial talks on a possible deal in which Marinakis would acquire a controlling stake in a South American club are said to be underway, but are far from finalised.
Nevertheless, if a deal were to be struck, the possibility of Marinakis controlling one of the most high-profile clubs in world football would arise.
Former Arsenal sporting director Edu, who played for Vasco’s domestic rival Corinthians, is expected to join Marinakis’ team as a world-class footballer who is likely to play an influential role with Vasco in the event of a successful takeover.
Vasco was previously owned by 777 Partners, which once tried to take over Everton.
